INDIVIDUALIZED or IN-SERVICE hands-on training/workshops for teachers, music teachers, media specialists, musicians, and non-musicians who want to use GarageBand to create music for themselves or with their students.
GarageBand for the Mac: Learn how to use this powerful program for creating, editing, and recording music. 6-hour workshops include basic training in the GarageBand software and projects to use with students. Experience with a Mac computer is helpful but not required.
GarageBand for the iPad: Play a variety of musical instruments with just one finger! With interactive instruments, this is a fun way for people of all ages to make music, even without any musical background. A 3-hour workshop includes a complete tour of the app, and ideas for composition projects.
MIDGE OLSEN Midge has taught GarageBand to students in the Minneapolis Public Schools since GarageBand 2 became available in 2005. She has developed a project-based curriculum to use with middle grades and high school students. Currently she teaches GarageBand workshops for the TIES, an education technology collaborative of 49 Minnesota school districts, and in the past has taught a variety of workshops for the Perpich Center for Arts Education. Midge has a degree in Music Education from Westminster Choir College, and a Master of Arts degree in Music Educations from the University of St. Thomas. Midge also provides training and workshops for Promethean ActivInspire software for interactive whiteboards.
